  • Septic Tank Maintenance and Care: The septic tank is the central part of most septic systems. Proper septic tank maintenance involves attention to the drain field and the soil as well. The tank maintenance alone can be complex since many things are to be considered. The tanks used are watertight containers used to hold sewage waste temporarily. Over time, solids collect at the bottom and require routine pumping to avoid overfilling. Fats, oils, and grease create a floating scum layer. It consists mostly of accumulated fats, oils, and greases. During septic tank maintenance these are removed from the tank. The liquid portion then moves through an upper outlet into the drain field. What goes into your system plays a major role in its upkeep. Different waste types require different maintenance approaches. Most septic waste falls into liquid, solid, and non-organic categories. Call us today for quality septic tank maintenance services in Lone Pine, California.
  • Septic System Pumping: Water, while not dangerous by itself, is the main issue among liquid waste. Excessive water intake of a septic tank may lead to different abnormalities of its functions, such as an over-soaked drain field or backflow issues. The use of chemicals should be controlled due to their impact on the tanks biological activity. Disinfectants as much as possible are to be used for a minimal amount to avoid killing the beneficial anaerobic bacteria in the tank during the septic tank maintenance. Solid materials flushed down the drains significantly raise the accumulation of solid wastes in the bottom of the tank. While non organic substances may just add up to the bulk of waste in the tank. Regular pumping helps keep the tank from reaching capacity. Call us now!

How Does A Septic Tank System Work?

A properly designed septic program (sewage treatment system) collects and processes waste from your property, divides solid materials from liquid effluent in containment vessels, and directs partially treated effluent to the soil through a drain field. The first essential component of septic treatment is the septic tank itself. This underground sealed container gathers wastewater from the property. It isolates solids, begins the breakdown of organic waste, and retains sludge and scum. The result is relatively clear effluent. When functioning correctly, the tank divides solids and liquids. Solid waste and partially decomposed sludge settle at the bottom. Lighter materials such as fats, oils, and grease float to the top. The partially treated liquid between these layers flows out to the drain field. The following phase is the effluent distribution system. Its role is to carry treated liquid into the soil treatment area. Gravity flow allows wastewater to move naturally into the absorption system. This component spreads wastewater evenly throughout the field. Some systems rely on pumps to distribute effluent evenly using pressurized lines. The drain field performs the final stage of wastewater treatment. It relies on soil filtration to cleanse wastewater before returning it to the environment. Common configurations include trench fields, gravel filters, seepage holes, or mound systems. Less conventional systems include drip distribution, spray irrigation, or flow release techniques.

How the ST Pro Plumbing Works on Your Tank

With extensive experience in septic cleaning and maintenance, ST Pro Plumbing has a long history of service. Our understanding of your septic system is backed up by this extensive work history. However, as a homeowner, it’s important for you to understand the working of your septic tank, even though our professionals will maintain it for you. Septic tanks differ, but the basic function is consistent across systems. Gravity moves wastewater from your home into the septic tank. Wastewater stays in the tank for about one or two days. During this time the substances in the water are broken down by the anaerobic bacteria inside the tank. The bacteria help segregate solids, oils, greases, and other floating materials. While bacteria inside your septic tank will do a fine job of breaking down your home’s wastewater, our professionals know it can’t dissolve everything. Tanks have three layers: floating scum, middle grey water, and bottom sludge. Our experts manage the equilibrium of the three layers to keep your system functioning correctly. After remaining in the septic tank for one or two days, the “grey” wastewater inside the tank flows into the drain field. Its made up of perforated pipes buried in trenches containing sand, gravel, or other dense, loose fill. The health and condition of your drain field is integral to the continued performance of your septic system, and as such, it will be regularly evaluated by us. As the wastewater flows out of the holes along the pipes, it enters the soil, which acts as a natural filter for any remaining waste products in the water. Microbes in the soil, along with oxygen, break down harmful elements in the water. Effective soil filtration lets the septic system release clean water back into the ground. We can make sure that your drain field is working ideally. Since this wastewater could have come from a toilet, washing machine, shower, or sink, the types of debris found in it can be of a wide variety. Existing bacteria break down the majority of these materials. Our experts are available to handle any clogs or system backups.

For the Proper Treatment of Your Septic System call ST Pro Plumbing

Properly maintained systems by our experts can tolerate common chemicals including bleach, laundry detergent, and drain cleaners, yet toxic chemicals should never be poured or rinsed into the septic tank. Such chemicals may include paint thinner, solvents, or insecticides. Cooking fats and grease should also never go down a household drain. Instead, they should be stored in a separate container till they congeal, and then disposed of as a solid.
