  • Septic Tank Maintenance and Care: A septic tank is the main component in a common septic system. Proper septic tank maintenance involves attention to the drain field and the soil as well. The tank maintenance alone can be complex since many things are to be considered. The tanks used are watertight containers used to hold sewage waste temporarily. Over time, solids collect at the bottom and require routine pumping to avoid overfilling. Scum floats on the surface of tank water. It consists mostly of accumulated fats, oils, and greases. Routine service includes removing this buildup. Liquid wastes on the other hand flows out to the drain field through an exit hole found on the upper part of the tank. What goes into your system plays a major role in its upkeep. Depending on what type of waste, septic maintenance is done to address the problems that arise from these wastes. Most septic waste falls into liquid, solid, and non-organic categories. Call us today for reliable septic system maintenance services in North Port, FL.
  • Septic System Pumping: Water, while not dangerous by itself, is the main issue among liquid waste. Excessive water intake of a septic tank may lead to different abnormalities of its functions, like dealing with drain field over soaking and drain back flowing. The use of chemicals should be controlled due to their impact on the tanks biological activity. Its best to limit the use of disinfectants to avoid killing the beneficial anaerobic bacteria in the tank during the septic tank maintenance. Solid materials flushed down the drains significantly raise the accumulation of solid wastes in the bottom of the tank. While non organic substances may just add up to the bulk of waste in the tank. Periodic pumping of these wastes is needed to avoid the tank being full. Call us now!

How Does A Septic Tank System Work?

A properly designed septic program (sewage treatment system) removes all waste from a building, separates solid waste from liquid waste inside holding containers, and directs partially treated effluent to the soil through a drain field. The primary component of any septic system is the septic tank. This is an underground, watertight container designed to receive wastewater from your home. It isolates solids, begins the breakdown of organic waste, and retains sludge and scum. The result is relatively clear effluent. When functioning correctly, the tank divides solids and liquids. Solid waste and partially decomposed sludge settle at the bottom. Lighter materials such as fats, oils, and grease float to the top. Effluent located between these layers moves on to the drain field. The second stage is the distribution system. Its role is to carry treated liquid into the soil treatment area. In gravity-fed systems, liquid flows directly through an outlet pipe into the distribution area. This component spreads wastewater evenly throughout the field. In pressurized systems, a pump lifts effluent to a higher elevation using pressure dosing. The drain field performs the final stage of wastewater treatment. It relies on soil filtration to cleanse wastewater before returning it to the environment. Common configurations include trench fields, gravel filters, seepage holes, or mound systems. Other less common options include drip systems, spray irrigation, and flow release methods.

How the ST Pro Plumbing Works on Your Tank

With extensive experience in septic cleaning and maintenance, ST Pro Plumbing has a long history of service. Our teams knowledge of septic systems is supported by years of hands-on work. However, as a homeowner, it’s important for you to understand the working of your septic tank, even though our professionals will maintain it for you. Septic tanks differ, but the basic function is consistent across systems. Wastewater from your house is carried into the septic tank by gravity. Wastewater stays in the tank for about one or two days. The tanks anaerobic bacteria decompose the wastewater over this time. The bacteria help segregate solids, oils, greases, and other floating materials. While bacteria inside your septic tank will do a fine job of breaking down your home’s wastewater, our professionals know it can’t dissolve everything. In every septic tank there is a layer of ‘scum’ floating at the top, in the middle there is a layer of partially treated or “grey” water, and heavy, thick sludge lines the bottom of the tank. All three layers must have a sort of internal “equilibrium” to them, which our professionals can help control, in order to continue functioning the way a septic system should. The grey water exits the tank after one or two days into the absorption area. Its made up of perforated pipes buried in trenches containing sand, gravel, or other dense, loose fill. We monitor your drain field closely because its condition directly affects system performance. The soil surrounding the pipes filters the effluent, removing remaining waste. Microbes in the soil, along with oxygen, break down harmful elements in the water. A properly functioning drain field allows a septic tank to replenish the surrounding area’s ground water table with clean, potable water. We can make sure that your drain field is working ideally. Household wastewater carries a mix of debris from toilets, showers, sinks, and washing machines. The bacteria already inside the septic tank can handle most of these easily. In case of a clog or septic back-up, our professionals are always available.

For the Proper Treatment of Your Septic System call ST Pro Plumbing

Properly maintained systems by our experts can tolerate common chemicals including bleach, laundry detergent, and drain cleaners, but you should try not to flush or rinse toxic chemicals into the septic tank. Such chemicals may include paint thinner, solvents, or insecticides. Grease and cooking fats should not be poured down any sink or drain. They should be poured into a separate container, allowed to solidify, and then disposed of as solid waste.
