  • Septic Tank Maintenance and Care: A septic tank is the main component in a common septic system. Proper septic tank maintenance involves attention to the drain field and the soil as well. Tank maintenance alone requires careful consideration of several factors. The tanks used are watertight containers used to hold sewage waste temporarily. Solid wastes accumulate in the bottom of the tank that needs pumping out after some time to avoid filling the tank. Fats, oils, and grease create a floating scum layer. These are mainly made from the collected fats, oils and greases. Routine service includes removing this buildup. Liquid wastes on the other hand flows out to the drain field through an exit hole found on the upper part of the tank. What goes into your system plays a major role in its upkeep. Different waste types require different maintenance approaches. Liquid, solid and non organic substances are the common categories of waste being placed in the septic tank. Call us today for quality septic tank maintenance services in Kanab, Utah.
  • Septic System Pumping: Water, while not dangerous by itself, is the main issue among liquid waste. Excessive water intake of a septic tank may lead to different abnormalities of its functions, like dealing with drain field over soaking and drain back flowing. The use of chemicals should be controlled due to their impact on the tanks biological activity. Its best to limit the use of disinfectants to avoid killing the beneficial anaerobic bacteria in the tank during the septic tank maintenance. Solid materials flushed down the drains significantly raise the accumulation of solid wastes in the bottom of the tank. While non organic substances may just add up to the bulk of waste in the tank. Periodic pumping of these wastes is needed to avoid the tank being full. Call us now!

How Does A Septic Tank System Work?

A good sewage treatment program (generally understood as a septic system) removes all waste from a building, separates solid waste from liquid waste inside holding containers, and releases clarified effluent into the soil absorption area. The primary component of any septic system is the septic tank. This is an underground, watertight container designed to receive wastewater from your home. It isolates solids, begins the breakdown of organic waste, and retains sludge and scum. The outcome is partially treated wastewater. In a properly functioning tank, solids and liquids are efficiently separated. Dense waste materials sink and form a sludge layer. Lighter materials such as fats, oils, and grease float to the top. Effluent located between these layers moves on to the drain field. The second stage is the distribution system. This system moves wastewater from the septic tank to the absorption area. Gravity flow allows wastewater to move naturally into the absorption system. A distribution box evenly disperses effluent across the field. In pressurized systems, a pump lifts effluent to a higher elevation using pressure dosing. The drain field performs the final stage of wastewater treatment. It relies on soil filtration to cleanse wastewater before returning it to the environment. Drain field systems may include cesspools, seepage pits, trench systems, subsurface gravel filters, or raised mound systems. Less conventional systems include drip distribution, spray irrigation, or flow release techniques.

How the ST Pro Plumbing Works on Your Tank

With extensive experience in septic cleaning and maintenance, ST Pro Plumbing has a long history of service. Our understanding of your septic system is backed up by this extensive work history. However, as a homeowner, it’s important for you to understand the working of your septic tank, even though our professionals will maintain it for you. Septic tanks differ, but the basic function is consistent across systems. Wastewater from your house is carried into the septic tank by gravity. This wastewater is held for one or two days in the tank. During this time the substances in the water are broken down by the anaerobic bacteria inside the tank. The bacteria help segregate solids, oils, greases, and other floating materials. Bacteria do much of the work, but certain materials cannot be dissolved without maintenance. Tanks have three layers: floating scum, middle grey water, and bottom sludge. Our experts manage the equilibrium of the three layers to keep your system functioning correctly. The grey water exits the tank after one or two days into the absorption area. The drain field is a series of perforated pipes inside a trench filled with sand, gravel, tire chips, or other loose yet dense material. The health and condition of your drain field is integral to the continued performance of your septic system, and as such, it will be regularly evaluated by us. As the wastewater flows out of the holes along the pipes, it enters the soil, which acts as a natural filter for any remaining waste products in the water. The toxins, bacteria, or viruses in the wastewater are broken down by the microorganisms and the oxygen in the soil. Effective soil filtration lets the septic system release clean water back into the ground. We inspect and maintain drain fields to guarantee proper operation. Household wastewater carries a mix of debris from toilets, showers, sinks, and washing machines. The bacteria already inside the septic tank can handle most of these easily. In case of a clog or septic back-up, our professionals are always available.

For the Proper Treatment of Your Septic System call ST Pro Plumbing

Systems designed and maintained by our professionals can handle a large amount of normal chemicals, such as laundry detergent, bleach, and drain cleaners, yet toxic chemicals should never be poured or rinsed into the septic tank. Toxic substances can include paint thinners, solvents, and pesticide products. Grease and cooking fats should not be poured down any sink or drain. Instead, they should be stored in a separate container till they congeal, and then disposed of as a solid.
